Eldred Valley Rock
Colin Arthur Dionne Memorial Climbers Camp
OUR ROOTS
The Colin Arthur Dionne Memorial Climbers Camp can trace its beginning back to the summer of 1999, Colin and Christie Dionne began building what was then known as Lothlorian. Beginning with a small parking pullout and a single tent site in the forest, it has grown into what you see today. Their vision was to build a climbers campground that would grow naturally with the number of climbers coming to the Eldred Valley.
Protecting the Campground land from industry was Colin's main focus and through working with the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resorces and the Climbers Access Society of BC, Lothlorian became a designaited forest service recreation site in 2012. Unfortunatly Colin never got to enjoy the fruits of his labour of love, a helicopter accident in the mountains took him from us all in the summer of 2011, and Lothlorian was renaimed The Colin Arthur Dionne Mamorial Climbers Camp in his hounor. The Climbers of Powell River have continued his work, keeping the Campground land protected and cared for to the best of our abilitys.
